Radio Interview on Nature, The Best Medicine?

Our CEO and founder Maxwell A Ayamba BEM, recently appeared on Voice Of Islam Radio. During the Drive Time Show, presenters Imam Safeer Zartasht Khan and Imam Reheel Ahmad spoke to Maxwell about Minoritised communities and  SEM’s work encouraging more participation and greater access to green spaces for people of colour.

The show featured several other guests speaking about how the natural environment is important to our wellbeing.

Charity Leader of the Month – Maxwell A. Ayamba BEM

Cause4 has made SEM’s Maxwell A. Ayamba its ‘Charity Leader of the Month for February 2023!

For its regular ‘Pick of the Month‘ feature, Cause4 has published a piece praising SEM‘s founder and CEO for his tireless and ground breaking work leading Sheffield Environmental Movement and championing access to rural spaces for Minority Ethinic communities.

Maxwell recently recieved a BEM award in the Kings New Years Honours List 2023 for his work environmental work in the local commmunity.

Cause4 is a UK based social enterprise that works to “support charitable organisations to change and grow, as well as to raise vital funds working across the charity, arts, sports and education sectors.”

People’s Assembly for Nature

Our SEM CEO Maxwell spoke at the People’s Assembly for Nature Second Assembly Weekend – 3rd – 4th December 2022.

Meet Mahmood Hussain Our Newest Trustee

SEM Trustee - Mahmood Hussain

Meet Mahmood Hussain, who has a many years experience in youth & community engagement and is now our newest board member!

Mahmood came to Sheffield in 1968 and have been a pillar in the Fir Vale Community and a respected member of the community.

Mahmood has also worked tirelessly over the years to put Sheffield College on the map of educational attainment and excellence, supporting and enabling especially ESOL students mostly refugees and other immigrants to achieve their goals in this country.

Mahmood is passionate about the environment and has over the years worked hard to promote access to and participation in the natural environment for the Muslim community in Sheffield.
